D'Talle
Jazz | Latin | SalsaD'talle, (pronounced Deh-Tie-yay), the Cuban womens music group. Combining the expertise and swagger of contemporary Cuban music with a vivacious energy, the 8 women (and a male drummer) of D'talle have won the hearts and minds of Latin music fans wherever they have performed. Based in Havana, D'talle is lead by veteran pianist and music arranger Ivette Porras Thorp, who's credits include working for Manolin (El Medico de la Salsa). Like her male counterparts , Ivette is a product of the Cuban music system which combines rigorous music training with extensive dance club experience. In 2000, D'talle released their first record on BIS Music, entitled "De La Salsa Cubana" produced by Joel Dominguez arranger of Issac Delgado's mega- hit "La Formula". The album, little known in Canada, combines energetic doses of timba and son montuno with forays into boleros and cumbia music. As well as playing extensively in the Cuban club and hotel circuit, D'talle have toured Europe, the Caribbean and Latin America. They are scheduled to visit Japan this summer. Says Ivette, "We are looking forward to playing at Lula Lounge because of it's reputation for high quality latin music and because the crowd there loves Cuban music." The D'talle line-up consists of leader Ivette Porras Thorp, Cynthia Rodriguez Gonzalez and Sahili Gonzalez Zamora on keyboards, drummer Gilberto Morieaus, Zunelvis Noydee Fonseca Calvo on congas, Yisell Yilian Sanchez Torres on bongos, bass player Arianne Milhet Charon and singers Maiyelin Soriano Matos and Danay Sinclair Charon.
