Formed in Seattle in late 1996, the Devils comprise veteran musicians vocalist Spencer Moody, bassist Derek Fudesco, guitarists Nate Manny and Dann Gallucci, and drummer Coady Willis. With strains of punk, metal and hardcore fused with steady, lo-fi garage-rock the band started burning up the Pacific Northwest live circuit and soon signed a record deal with Sub Pop. The Devils' eponymous debut album became the first release on Sub Pop's offshoot label, Die Young Stay Pretty. With excellent reviews and word of mouth, Murder City Devils so impressed the label that they promoted the band to their primary roster.
