Identity Crisis ... Outstandin

Nasri
Dance | Electronica | PopBorn and raised in Toronto, Nasri’s (pronounced Nazree) first passion was dancing - to this day he can lock, pop and rock with the best of them - but by the time he reached his teens he fell in love with the lush, well-crafted classics of R&B. His heroes remain Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway and the like, but he adds New School stars like Boys II Men and Glenn Lewis when trying to explain the inexplicable: what his own music sounds like. “I’m combining them. I’m trying to take Old School R&B and New School R&B with my own personal vibe - and then I tell my story through it.” Storytelling is a key element of Nasri’s lyrics, they open up the songs to universal identification - everyone can relate to the thoughts and emotions expressed therein.Together with his producer and co-writer Adam Messinger (a Juno Nominee for Cadence's Frost Free), Nasri has crafted some outstanding songs, from the chunky edge of his first radio single, "Go", the beauty of the "Your Song", and the Rhythmic pop grooves of "I Told You So" and "Over And Done With" In January of this year, the first single "Go" (the remix features hip hop diva extraordinaire Tara Chase) was released to Urban and Top 40 stations across the country. It has already gained Top 20 status on the BDS chart and continues to gain momentum across the country and solidify a fanbase for Nasri. The full-length debut album, (aptly titled "Invisible Walls") will be available for consumer consumption in late summer. Explaining the album title, Nasri sums it up quite simply; "There have been so many barriers and hurdles to contend with, some right in front of my face, others were much more subtle, and through the experiences that I have gone through I have learned how to conquer them. Whether it be attention at radio as an independent artist, or trying to combine R&B with a Pop sensibility and gain acceptance in both genres, these "walls" have been there." Like the underlying theme of his song “But We Didn’t” (“We could’ve-would’ve-should’ve, but we didn’t.”), Nasri realizes, “it’s all about the timing.” Two years ago the R&B flavoured sound he favours wouldn’t have been heard amidst the hammering beats of hip hop’s hottest hits. These days the urban audience wants more from their music - more melody, more thought, more heart - and Nasri delivers plain, simply and honestly. Website: http://www.nasrimusic.com/
