Greg Quill & The Usual Suspects
Not Yet Rated Country | FolkPerplexing, provocative, and challenging original songs are the trademark of one of the of the pioneers of Australian roots music, and founder of the seminal 1970s folk-rock outfit Country Radio. Quill, a familiar figure in Toronto''s folk/roots scene, and former Country Radio alumnus Kerryn Tolhurst, a New York-based roots music producer/songwriter and lap steel guitar, mandolin and dobro wizard, released the CD "so rudely interrupted" in 2003 -- their first collaboration since 1975 -- to wide critical acclaim. Quill and Tolhurst appeared at the prestigious Port Fairy and Brunswick Folk Festivals during a tour of the southeastern states of their homeland. Quill also performs regularly with bassist Dennis Pinhorn and accordion master Denis Keldie as The Usual Suspects. The band, which has been featured at Winterfolk and Summerfolk festivals in Canada, occasionally includes star fiddler Anne Lindsay, guitarists Mitchell Lewis and Steve Briggs, and drummer Bucky Berger. "so rudely interrupted" is available in Canada on True North RecordsWebsite: http://www.gregquill.com
