Regrouped with new singer Patsy Klein (yes, that’s her real name) and armed with a new album “Where There’s Smoke” they are once again bringing their smooth stylings and timeless melodies to the clubs of Vancouver and beyond.The Colorifics formed in 1995 as a pop latin-jazz quartet to fulfill a contract with the Rimouski Quebec Jazz Festival. After the festival they headed back to Vancouver and spent time developing an extensive original repertoire and a large following to play to on the West Coast. Fusing hipster pop with slinky latin-jazz, the Colorifics emerged as Vancouver’s foremost pop latin-jazz ensemble, selling out shows up and down the West Coast and becoming the No. 1 selling indie artist in the city. Then in mid 1998 the band took time off. Reforming in mid 1999, the Colorifics hit the clubs to redevelop their audience and break in new material. Emerging with a new energy and a whole new album of songs, they recorded “Where There’s Smoke” at the end of 2002. The results - a fascinating blend of well crafted original songs which capture the band’s live energy whilst still displaying the smooth harmonies and musical virtuosity which has become a Colorifics’ trademark.
