Although principally a composer, Mr. Kulesha is active as a pianist and conductor, and has recorded in both capacities. He held the posts of Toronto Symphony Orchestra Composer Advisor and Principle Conductor and Artistic Director of the Composer's Orchestra and has guest conducted with Arraymusic, the Stratford Festival Chamber Ensemble, Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra and the National Arts Centre Orchestra. His compositions have been commissioned and performed by the TSO, the Cleveland Orchestra, National Arts Centre Orchestra and Vancouver Symphony. In 1986, Mr. Kulesha was named composer of the year by The Performing Rights Organization of Canada. In 1990 his Third Chamber Concerto was nominated for a Juno as Best Classical Composition. Mr. Kulesha holds teaching positions at the Royal Conservatory of Music and the University of Toronto where he is also the director of the Contemporary Music Ensemble.
