"Lucie Idlout demonstrates she is a refreshing presence in a scene that lacks credible female talent." Luke Drozd, Tasty Fanzine – UK

"Idlout''s stage presence allowed her to pull the audience into her world just by making seemingly nonsensical noises into the microphone..."

Candice Debi – The Varsity – T.O.

With the recent resurrection of yesterday’s rock, one of the most interesting arrivals on the scene is songstress Lucie Idlout. Her music is hard hitting, raw and to the point, drawing on fantasy, lust and primal energy coupled with infectious grooves to make undeniable rock n'' roll.

Though she may come from the newest territory, Nunavut, in Canada’s Arctic, she has managed to bust out of the typical stereotypes associated musically with Aboriginal people. She has transcended the barriers of culture and geographic location proving that she has more to say on a universal level.

"The media is constantly fucking with me, dumbing down what I’m doing by making it [interviews] all about culture. Where I come from doesn’t have a thing to do with it. Isn’t it about the music? That’s the point they’re missing."

Lucie has toured clubs and rock festivals extensively across Canada, the US, Norway, Germany, the UK, Italy, the Netherlands and Denmark leaving an aftermath of slayed fans on the proverbial battle field.

Though she was host to the top rated Entertainment Magazine, Buffalo Tracks, on APTN, and has acted in a score of theatre pieces, music has always proven to be home.

She was awarded Best Female Artist at the 2003 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards and has been nominated for Best Rock Album at both the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards and the Indian Summer Music Awards in Milwaukee, WI.

Her band, The Angry Best, is made up of all-stars, Kurt Schefter (Alana Miles), Rich Levesque (the Full Nine) and Ryan McCaffrey (the Mud Men), a foursome that creates sound so seriously damning, it’s impossible to shake.

They''ve enjoyed recent success in the Netherlands and Germany dubbing it their “tour of shame”, having lived everything from five star hotels around Tilburg to flop houses in East Berlin. The picture was made perfect each night, as they slammed it out in crowded smoky clubs to audiences wanting more.

In 2003, the song Birthday, (distributed by Capitol/EMI) was licensed to the film Crime Spree, featuring Harvey Keitel and Gerard Depardieu.

Their follow-up release, "Swagger" is slated for the fall of 2005.
