Not Yet Rated Pop | Rock Simeon Ross (vocals), Brad Sveistrup (guitars), Gail Thompson (drums), Johnny (guitars/keyboards), Steve Payne (bass). Charmer fuses modern pop sensibilities with introspective storytelling. Four boys and one girl who deliver an adrenalin rush with a swagger. Simeon Ross is the band's front-man, and is formerly of Calgary's Red Autumn Fall (opened for Oasis and The Barenaked Ladies). Simeon is an accomplished songwriter, with writing credits for artists including Dahmnait Doyle. "Our primary focus is on writing intelligent, moving songs," says guitarist Brad Sveistrup. "We want to transport the audience, take them somewhere … we hope our songs mean something." Anyone who's experienced Charmer live knows how integral the audience is to the show. "An audience can sense insincerity," says Simeon. "The key to a successful show is creating a balance between the audience and the band, where we can feed off each other's energy." Musically the band draws its influences from a wide range of artists including David Bowie, U2, Radiohead, Gene, The Pixies, Billy Bragg, Kent, Jeff Buckley, The Smiths, and Depeche Mode. Charmer has begun work towards a future release with producer Daniel Greaves, singer of The Watchmen. Website: http://www.interlog.com/~blitz2/charmer.htm
