Rod Piazza & the Mighty Flyers
Not Yet Rated BluesHarmonica player/vocalist, Rod Piazza began his career in Los Angles in 1965 when he formed the Dirty Blues Band. In 1968 he formed Bacon Fat with his blues-harp mentor, George"Harmonica"Smith and they released albums in 69 and 70. During this period he also fronted The Rod Piazza Blues Band and the Chicago Flying Saucer Band. In 1980, Rod and his wife Honey, an acclaimed blues pianist, formed the Mighty Flyers. The current line-up also features long time bassist, Bill Stuve, drummer, Paul Fasulo and guitarist, Henry Carvajal. The Mighty Flyers have released, 17 recordings to date with the new release of "Modern Master" on Tone-Cool. They`ve been nominated and won many W.C. Handy and regional blues awards and continue to tour constantly. A Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers show is always an exhilarating experience, punctuated by Honey`s two-fisted boogies, Rod`s soulful singing and bar-walking showmanship and the deep blues groove that has made them one of the most popular blues bands in the world.
