Been wondering what’s been going on in Victoria, Canada these days? The legendary punk rock city. The Dayglo Abortions, NoMeansNo, Hot Hot Heat and now Moneyshot. Victoria is home to a revived punk rock’n roll scene and a new generation of bands, with Moneyshot leading the way. Honest, hard, loud, rock ‘n roll music with punk rock roots; AC/DC meets

Bad Religion. Moneyshot aspires to return to an era of rock music that actually rocks. Brutally catchy melodies, screamin’ in your face guitars, and a rock solid rhythm section combine to kick your ass, then beat you while you’re down. In a city that takes pride in putting music first, Moneyshot’s raw, live energy has consistently earned them the spot as top drawing act in town. Moneyshot was formed early in 1999 from the remains of the Victoria punk

rock staple Another Casualty (1995-1999) and the Kelowna punk band Undermind (1996-1998). In March of 2000, Moneyshot made the transition to it’s final line up as the brothers Josh and Jeremy made the move from

the popular Victoria punk rock outfit Speakeasy (1995-2000) to join forces with Tim and Tyson. Two full length CD’s were released under bass player Tyson’s label, Identity Records, during the first few years.

"A Vision Of Things To Come" (1999), and “Just Past Now” (2001) proved to be underground hits, selling nearly 1000 copies each. Countless shows in the greater Victoria area, and a regular touring regiment of western Canada over the next two and a half years, including a tours with Vancouver’s GOB and a tour with Identity Records’ label mates Glasshead, helped earn Moneyshot a loyal fan base locally, and throughout the country. With two and half years of solid gigging, and an evolved, streamlined musical focus, Moneyshot sequestered themselves to the jam space for the

winter of 2001/2002. The band came back in the spring of 2002 with a vengeance on the Victoria/Vancouver scene culminating in the release of their latest CD, “Amped”. Two sold out CD release parties were held in Victoria, a bar attendance record was set, and over 600 copies of ‘Amped’ were sold in it’s opening weekend. A spot on the Vans Warped Tour, a tour with NoMeansNo and a sold out show with the Headstones and

the Spitfires in Victoria highlighted the bands live performances. The single ‘Blades of Steel’ became a hit in the Vancouver/Victoria area after receiving regular rotation on the Zone 91.3 in Victoria and spins on the Fox and XFm in Vancouver. Heavy Requests for the track at the Zone earned it a #60 spot on the Zone’s top 91 of 2002 countdown as the only independent release, beating the likes of Mathew Good and Weezer. For 2003, a video shoot for “Blades of Steel’, and the usual extensive live schedule are already in place. With new material for a planned 2003 LP ready to go, the band is ready to raise the bar yet again. Honest rock ‘n roll, coming soon to a stadium near you.
