I feel like going easier on your label guy now that I know he has great taste in women. Plus I think your band must be pretty good, going by where you've played, the great reviews written here, and your serious determination to expand your horizons and audience. And I like the name of your band. Maybe I'll be fortunate enough to hear you play live one day, but it won't be in the states! I have the best of wishes for you.

Your anti-Americanism notwithstanding, I should point out that we sent demos to every independent label in Vancouver, and got not one single response. We also sent demos to all the high-profile indie labels across the country, and got nothing but rejection. So our national pride kinda went out the window after a while.
There's no raping and pillaging going on here. We hooked up with someone who happens to be as excited about our music as we are, and he wants others to hear it. He also happens to be an American. An American who happens to be married to a Canadian, incidentally.

Runs a label and an indie- magazine? Interesting hats this guy wears. I hope you don't spend another penny on this endeavor, in fact I hope you rape & pillage the contract like they do us...
(I'm not very fond of anything American, it's not easy... try buying an article of clothing or shoes, or food or music with this rather radical aversion)

The head of the label runs an indie-music magazine and was a fan of our singer's previous band.
Oh, and of course we only got picked up by this label after spending hundreds of dollars on postage and blank CDs to send demos to labels all over the world.

Vancouver's own Hinterland recently signed a contract that will see the band's debut album, Under the Waterline, released by Detroit-area label HybridElectric Records. The album is scheduled for release on November 18, and we will be playing a show to celebrate its release toward the end of November.
