She's Canuck multi-culti, being of Mexican-Russian descent – a Gypsy Aztec temple singer with a Tori Amos yen for turning stuff inside out. The essence of her music is emotional, the appeal universal, the delivery inclusive, evocative and unforgettable. Artist Website Dance Norma Araiza Brigantine Room 1:30 pm & 4:30 pm Norma Araiza is a performer, choreographer, instructor, originally from Mexico. Araiza performs Me Lleva La Flaca!, a dance-theatre piece inspired by the traditions of the Day of The Dead. Kallpulli Kuauhilama Brigantine Room 3:30 pm Kallpulli Kuauhilama are from Mexico City. They are of the ancient Mexica (Aztec) people and will be performing traditional dances and ceremonies of their culture. Through Aztec dance, Kallpulli Kuauhilama makes true the prophecy of the Condor and the Eagle reuniting, in which the Native peoples of South, Central and North America come together once again, just as the Elders had spoken. Food Mexican Café Marilyn Brewer Community Space Noon–6 pm Delicious Mexican fare by El Jacalito restaurant. Film Hasta Los Huesos (Down to the bone) Studio Theatre 12:30 pm, 1:30 pm & 4 pm A clay animation short about a man who enters the realm of the dead. A worm, smiling skeletons, and the Catrina herself welcome him, and little by little he realizes that being dead is actually not that bad. Directed by René Castillo. Por eso en Míxquic hay tantos perros (That is why in Mixquic there are so many dogs) Studio Theatre 2:30 pm In the town of Mixquic, a man narrates just how his mother tried to cross the river of death and her unexpected return to life. Part of the Gala proceeds are going to a 7 year old boy named Kai, who is overcoming a brain tumor and needs alternative healing.

The rest of the proceeds are going to India to improve children’s education.
