Do the math...When Laurie Mercer (Mngr. of DOA and Nomeansno) ran Music west, you actually got wristo's for the entire weekend for all acts....Now there are great things about MW, like the "exposure" (ha ha ha)...The amount of money going where??? (this is volunteer run, yet 1400 groups paid $30 to submit their hard work)...These so called "seminars" where you get (sorry) canadian music "brass" talking about how to be like one of the 4 succesful bands to come out of canada this fiskal year, or to have this putrified womanizing little excuse for a man named Gene Simmons (as in beauty rest) tell us to go ahead and kill ourselves ala Kurdt Cobain, so's he can get all the more "pussy"....Uh fuck that.....Or even better, how to market and package your band...ha ha ha ha ha ha ...STEP 1...Move outta the stix! ...Step 2...Realize that hardly any of the retarded A&R people actually CARE about ANYTHING canadian, unless it's owned, and funneled through Universal....And last but not least...Let's have a seminar on the state of the industry, and how many people are getting sucked into the various little "artist scams" that most overlook, because they got a laminate, and they've stood in the same room as Matt Good....It's a sham, and actually quite counter productive as far as anyone with a real sound, and some origionality getting noticed...It's all about the deneros, and don't think for a minute it is'nt!...But hey, It's "fun", and I've seen alot of great rooms opening up for it....Blah Blah Blah,....I'll never play it again though....Who cares???Well you asked, and trust me, I'm not the only one who see's past the shit-storm....Thanx, and see you at MR.UNDERHILL @ the ROYAL!
