we need to increase the quality level of the entertainment we are inflicting upon the consuming public... we need to remember that a show is a band-venue partnership... now, i'm not saying that all venues are cooperative in this, but there really are a lot of places to play in vancouver... they're not all great, but as a new band, you gotta expect to play ms. t's, the marine club, and other meager-atmosphere/dead- awful-sound-system joints like them... and you have to learn to make them sound good... and you have to learn how to put on a good show even in the direst circumstances... otherwise, you're blame shifting... "we can't get people to come see us because the venue is shitty"... bullshit, you can't get people to come see you because you play too often, you do nothing special to make the 20 people that saw you want to come out and see you again, and all your songs sound not only the same as all your songs, but the same as all the songs of all your friends' bands that you put on the bill with you... you can't expect wendy13 and jason to go and take over a bunch more shite bars and turn them into great places to play and hang out... they're busy...

we need more venues to play at. we need different sizes of venues. we go from richards to the commodore to gm place. there's nothing in between.

If the unprofessional amateur way in which the "promoter" at 303 Live handles business is an indication why we are losing another live venue in Vancouver, then let us all give a warm round of applause for this gentleman. Too bad, cool room, great staff, and a good crowd. Too bad the guy who mis-handled the bands couldn't find his ass in a snow storm! But he got paid every night...
