Hmm, when I typed Nunstalker into a search engine this thread came up. I'd just like to say what the hell are you guys fighting for?! No we don't get people to rate us as outstanding and I'm surprised we even are on this site at all. None of our friends have a computer... and the last thing we would waste our time with is telling people "hey go on this obscure website and rate us outstanding!" We disbanded on June 1, 2002... but we've recently decided to reform for a September 2003 Western North American tour. You can take a look at our website at www.nunstalker.tk and download MP3s from our new-ish album. And no Bro Jake didn't name this band, I did... thanks guys, now please just stop bickering!

Three cheers Glenn. But I do admit I did laugh when I first read the heading of ryman's original posting. I did have a similar thought.....which was about the music. There does seem to be a preponderance of "outstanding" ratings (which may or may not be questionable).
But having said that it is a public forum and people will digress in any public discussion arena. If people want to go off topic they will. But hopefully the focus will always be brought back to the music, which is why I myself signed up on this board....to talk about music, particularly local music.

Why even indulge posts-responses that stray from comments about music and the mechanisms of Citygigs? This sort of thing is a discredit to a great site. Surely we don't need hall monitors, do we? The bands and fans that utilize Citygigs, the writers and reviewers who contribute and indeed the administrators of this site hardly need this sort of juvenile irrelevance as a reward for their efforts. Let's develop the site and make sure its content is of a quality that will encourage growth and draw the industry's attention and support.

If you read my original posting you would see I was talking about bogus "outstanding" ratings for lame bands posted by their well meaning friends, or more than likely, by the bands themselves PRETENDING to be fans.

Okay ska-t, that might mean Nunstalker has three friends who rated them or it could mean three people actually think they're the bomb. But it's just the "outstanding" rating seems to have been a little over used on this board.
I've never even heard them, I just joined the discussion thread that got started here. You'd have to ask Ryman if he (or she? I'm assuming he) started the thread in Nunstalker for a reason.

For real, I don't even bother reading any review with an OUTSTANDING rating anymore even if the person who wrote it really meant it. I just go "Fuck not ANOTHER one", yeah yeah, they ROCK, yeah yeah they are the BEST....right.

I'm sure many of the "friends" do think their friends' bands are "outstanding", but I agree, there is a ton of credibility lost when just about every single band is rated "outstanding".
It rings false somehow. Although presumably they only post if they liked something enough they were moved to comment or disliked it enough to comment.
