Hey there Mabel! It's been a while, I was up at a friend's cottage for a glorious week of peace and quiet, no computers, no city noise, it was great.
Unfortunately I doubt I will be able to get to Rhonda's show since I hope to go back to said cottage next week. We plan to leave when I finish work so we can then pass out and wake up to the fresh pine filled air.
How have you been?

hi mj. okay, I won't mention anything to heather. crushes are o.k. as long as they don't cut off the air supply to the brain. take Jeff Goldblum for instance. ever since I saw him in The Fly, I thought I'd like to meet him, let him do his fly things with me, those tongue techniques etc., but I haven't ever met him, still watch his movies, still like him, fantasize about his fly goo, speed, strength and agility... but I'm not damaged from NOT having had a real fluid exchange with him. nope. not me.

LOL! I don't think that's necessary, but thanks. I'm not sure what it would accomplish to know if she is single or not. While my own relationship is far from ideal, I'm still not ready to throw in the towel just yet! Nor do I want to develope a big crush on a performer whose music I enjoy ... hehe maybe a little one, just not a big one!

Okay for some reason the rest of my message got cut off, I will continue:
This brings me to another honest thought I had: when I went to see Heather Morgan perform, I guess I could have waited a little longer to go up and say hi, but then I thought "I will lose all anonymity". Although I kind of gave up my anonymity to her when I first signed on this board, but when she didn't quite remember, I was actually relieved in a way. So I found myself in a strange dilemma, do I say hi to a performer I liked, or do I retain my anonymity and just enjoy the shows I can see and still sound off here?
Your question brings me to that thought because it brings up how much I want to reveal of myself in answering such a question in a public forum (I seem to enjoy it).
Thanks for your question, it raises questions for me in my own mind about various things.
I guess the short answer to your question however is "No" not all men seek out the back door action, but if I am any kind of yard stick for the average guy then I'd say that a lot do also.

Love the Tom Robbins quote. You're an interesting woman Mabel. Now as to your question: I can't really speak for all men, but as for me the answer is yes.
Not sure how graphic I want to get here, it's not really the place, and I do know that some men for whatever uptight reason don't seek out the back door action (and I suspect there are a few of those), but I'd lay pretty good odds that a good chunk of men certainly wouldn't turn it down. I personally have always broached the subject very carefully however...it's not exactly the first quesion I ask.
It's difficult to discuss in a forum like this however.
This brings me to another honest thought I had: when I went to see Heather Morgan perform, I guess I could have waited a little longer to go up and say hi, but then I thought

and it's NOT a serious question remember...
I'll quote a little more form Tom Robbins to ease my blush: "It is contrary to the nature of mystery to stand still..... We glimpse it when we stand still. The romance of new love, the romance of solitude, the romance of objecthood, the romance of ancient pyramids and distant stars are means of making contact with the mystery...... 1) Everything is part of it. 2) It's never too late to have a happy childhood."
!@#$% I love his stuff. It's like eating a great meal.

so it's not a question of it being good or bad, really good or really bad, but more of a "nature" question... because I think the answer is "yes." but I'm not a guy, so I'm just wondering if I'm right.

you're right mj, I can't. And also I remembered some lines from the book 'Still Life With Woodpecker' by Tom Robbins... "Albert Camus wrote the only serious question is whether to kill yourself or not. Tom Robbins wrote the only serious question is whether time has a beginning and an end......There is only one serious question. And that is: Who knows how to make love stay?" He does answer this question at the end of the book - it's to do with the mystery. "When the mystery of the connection goes, love goes.... The love connection may be merely a device to put us in contact with the mystery, and we long for love to last so that the ecstasy of being near the mystery will last."
Beautiful. And on that note: this is for everyone who reads this UNserious question: Does EVERY guy want to put it in the back door?

Hi mj. (sometimes I'm no where near a computer) I have such a huge question I want to ask you, because you've been very honest with me.... but it has nothing to do with music. I could make it relate to music though. What am I talking about?, I don't do anything without music, so yes it is a music related question but !@#$% shit!, y'know, it's just curiousity mj, I have to ask... and to make it easier for you, I'll open it up for every person who happens to read this. In fact, I'd like to take a census. Official. It has nothing to do with me personally, except for the personal curiousity aspect. SHIT!!! too chicken to ask. !@#$% mj, I'll skip it, I'll let it burn, it's not like it's the only burning question I have.
so how have you been? My friend Rhonda is working on c.d. #2 in T.O. she sounds like she is having fun in the sun, likes the big city... I remembered who I thought her voice sounds almost exactly like: Eryka Badu.

excuse me, had to take a call.... to my HORROR I discovered a bumpy red rash! Naturally I thought my life was over, and that I had called it to an end myself, for having played that dream show yesterday and for not having another dreamgoal all lined up ... I had to wait until NOON before a drugstore was open to let a pharmacist investigate (I have a little trouble with doctors) and the first thing he asked is if I was playing in grass. GRASS!? ME!? I looked alittle guilty perhaps, so he went on to explain it looked like an allergic reaction from chemical lawn spray. Luckily I HAD been doing cartwheels etc. in someones yard and they likely put some shit on it to kill dandelions. So the rash is almost all faded away.. but I wanted to state here: I'll come up with another project idea/dreamgoal soon, I really was a bit too panicked to claim I'm ready to cut out right now. !@#$%. Plus I still want to play like Squarepusher + Victor Wooten.

That sounds fantastic! I'm very happy for you, I'm sorry I wasn't there! I was at a Native type festival once, it was incredible. There is something about the whole vibe that I can't explain but was very powerful. I joined a bunch of other men (only men) just drumming away and I have to say there was some primitive feeling that came up in the process. Very powerful.
As for the lovely Heather, yes I did go, I went to work for a few hours then went to see her, my girlfriend was really tired and didn't really want to go but we went. Sadly her set was almost over by the time I got there but it was really good what I saw. She's really impressive. Her song writing is really something and she was much looser on stage this time and was completely engaging. I was planning to say hello but when she got off stage she was surrounded for a while talking to people and my girlfriend was getting impatient. I really wanted to stay for Stratochief but the girlfriend was really wiped and wanted to go. Normally I would have stayed while she left, but we haven't spent a lot of time together lately so I left too.
So I did finally manage to make it out to a live show for the first time in months!

What's new?? holy f!@#$% What isn't new?? mj, If I'm dead tomorrow it's because a dream I've had for about 7 years just came true: a few hours ago I played at a Earth/ Aboriginal/ First Day of Summer outdoor festival - with a traditional hand-drummer. Since I've been playing bass I've heard this kind of drumming in my head - with my 'stuff' -but couldn't get anyone to experiment the fusion with me. Today I was invited to play a solo set, about 1/4 of the way thru the first 'tune' I was stopped because a drummer wanted to join me. He got on the mike, began drumming, I started over and we locked in. It was the first time in my musical history I cared to use my real name. The Blackfoot Princess introduced me, there was hoop-dancing, round-dancing, sack-races, face-painting, country/rock/folk artists etc.etc. Now what do I do? As far as I'm concerned - regarding my musical career - I made it. So I'm wondering what next?? More, I suppose, is always the answer. f!@#$% everything is new mj, thanks for asking, it must go with the season...
did you see heather last night ?
