Everytime I drink (approx. 2X a year), I remember why I don't drink: 1) I only drink tequila 2) I have never heard of "just one" 3) I will accept pretty much anything anyone offers me after "just three" ... so Saturday night was tequila and mushrooms and yesterday was puke and puke

anyone have a better weekend report (interesting shows) ?

good gracious holy lord god almighty. I just came back from checking out the band: Bad Zappa. I had to leave. I knew it wasn't a good sign when I couldn't find the bass player as I first sat down. I finally spotted him slow dancing on the dancefloor with his bass, girlfriend, black leather gloves and cordless amplifier. I thought I may be able to stay because they played an Allman Brothers tune next, but I could only concentrate on what the heck does his bass tone remind me of!!!??? I figured it out as I walked away, outside - someone playing basketball alone in a huge empty gymnasium.

Hi there Mabel, I was computerless for several days, I had a hard drive blow out. I had to replace the hard drive and re-install everything. I'm still in the process. What a f#%@ing piss off!

I have finally been able to see your site....damn girl, you're one fine bass player! That Pappa song is pretty fucking catchy! Too bad I can't see more of you in the pictures though! You are quite incognito!

I'll go back and check it out more thoroughly once I am back up and running full speed again. Which I am hoping will be by tomorrow.

You crack me up mabel! "urge for an occasional sausage to go with my flavour" hehe. I can't understand you being single!

I am really looking forward to seeing your website, but then again we have the same annonimity problem. I would really like to see/hear it though.

Yes I'm sure Heather probably does have a dude. My guess is probably either "taken" or "too many cats in the running". If my own situation was more satisfactory I probably wouldn't entertain these thoughts.

But who knows; I am often amazed at certain women being single, and often equally amazed at others being attached. Not to sound offensive but I've seen women that I can't imagine ANY guy getting it up for and yet they are married and managed to produce offspring! I mean my own dick actually shrinks at the thought of these women, so it's all a myserty to me. I'm not saying that sex is all there is to a relationship, I know that isn't true, but isn't that at least a part of it at the begining?

Hey mj. How's life? I heard a great funk band from Calgary last night: "Mocking Shadows." They had a 3- piece horn section and a Rhodes keyboardist. Danced my angst off. And today mj, I did the recordings/ photo's for my web-site and the designer said it could all be done for Monday. So you can hear for yourself a little of what I sound like...

Well, I think Heather must have a dude in her life anyway, being as spicy and talented as she's described. But then I'm hot and spicy too and all I ever get is the urge for an occasional sausage to go with my flavour

Good for you Mabel! That's great to hear. I'd love to hear your music some time. As I recall it sounded interesting from your description...wasn't it heavy jazz/funk bass with some spoken word, or am I remembering that all wrong?

As for Heather, I haven't gone to see her for a while so I guess I'm over due. We exchanged some pleasantries on the Heather Morgan message board but that's about it. I suppose I could write to her at her web site, but to be honest I'd feel like a dork. It seems invasive some how. Perhaps it's just better this way.

Hi mj. Check out fordpier.com and royalgrandprix.com to find out more about three of the best musicians I have ever been fortunate enough to hear.

I rocked @ the Tongue & Groove again last night, and today auditioned/was welcomed onto my home citys' Jazz Society committee. It looks like I may be the opening act for Ralph Alphonso for "Jazzerwocky" in November. If this happens it is another dream come true - to play in a theatre. Not bad for a construction worker.

How's Heather mj?

Good to know you are still out there Mabel. I too was very saddened by the passing of The Man in Black. Pulled out some old Cash recordings that I hadn't listened too in a long time.

I knew it was coming though, I knew when June died that Johnny was not long for this world. I never thought she'd go first though.

I am familiar with the name Ford Pier from back in the day (back when Toronto and Montreal had a rich thriving indie music scene happening...is Ford from Van? I seem to recall associating that name with west coast bands)

As for the other two no I don't know them, I do know a Keith Rose but I don't think it's the same one. Salty McNaulty is a great name, I should have heard of a guy with a name like that!

Hi mj. Yes, it has been awhile. Yes, I have been rocking the town. A new club had their opening night last night: "Tongue & Groove," and I played with a d.j. from 9 until 2 with one break. My shoulders are stiff today. During the break they played Johnny Cash. I had a lump in my throat. At the end of the night I just wanted to be alone with my feelings for him. I went to bed and turned on CKUA - they were playing a Johnny Cash tribute. I still have a lump in my throat. Can't quite discuss this further, god... I'm sad today... he's in a better place but I'm feeling lonely

I've been dreaming about Keith Rose, Ford Pier, and Salty McNaulty... Keith showed me 2 pictures: one he said was of an "eye monitoring" image and "could I see it?" I said no, it was all blurry. He showed me another picture of his ex, she was under a sign that said "SCREW FLUEW." They all lived in their own comfortable shacks on the edge of a nice, although somewhat busy, public beach. Ford didn't like his place and was looking to move. I won't say about Salty.... do you know them mj? Very Famous and Talented TRUE musicians.

It was something else Mabel, let me tell you!

No I didn't go out other than to a buddy's place who lives just a few blocks away. We ended up chilling with some friends on the deck. The powers that be were asking everyone to use electricity sparingly. It was a really hot muggy night too.

The transit wasn't really working yet, no subway, limitted buses. A lot of places still didn't have power on Friday. Seemed like a good idea to stay close to home and just hang.

What a trip! Literally. !@#$, as IF !! So fascinating to hear how people bonded, took it in stride, BBQ'd, ate ice cream! I wonder if vegetarians suffered more than carnivores? I suppose alot of frozen food will have to be tossed? Big grocers/ packing plants must be hating this. What a strange time we live in, so smart and so dependent - at equal rates of increase. It is good all the urbanites caught the natural night sky, and that everyone got a few days off. Man!! T.O. just remember "what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger." You could be the next Herculian society after all these events! So don't take any unnecessary shit (blame) from the U.S., my goodness they're so faultless.... but I sure never knew the countries overlapped grids. Bizarre. Life, that is...

did you go out mj?

Fuck that was something! I'm back on...barely. Thanks for your concern Mabel! It seems that my part of town was one of the LAST to get restored. People in other areas had power as early as 1:00am, not me!

Quite the party though, and the other bonus was I obviously didn't have to work last night, and I don't have to tonight! So I may chill with friends or see a band. The friendliness of the city was really something. Complete strangers were talking to each other, everyone seemed to be drinking, eating BBQ meats and eating lots of ice cream! Everywhere I went people had tubs of ice cream on the go! It was like being at camp...including listening to battery powered radios. There was also some weird shit going on in the sky that we never would have been able to see but for the lack of city light-noise. I saw stars in the Toronto night sky! That is rare.

It was fucking hot though, trying to sleep was a challenge to say the least.

The city pulled through reasonably well I'd say and seemd, at least from my vantage point, to have a lot of fun doing it!

Hey there Mabel, my apologies for the tardy reply, it's the summer thing, I spend much less time on the computer in summer. I still get home from work at the usual crazy late hours but it's just too damn hot to sit in front of the computer (I have an air conditioner in the bedroom so I can sleep but the livingroom and kitchen remain hot as hell and my computer is in a small space between the two).

My curiosity has got me on your upcoming web site, I hope you give me the URL so I can read and perhaps post in the, ahem, xxx message board to bring down the political powers that be!

Thank-you mj.

As far as my impending web-site is going.. nothing mysterious really.. it is set to have 3 divisions: 1) music 2) book excerpts 3) current events discussion board. But I suppose 'mystique' and 'porn' can safely fall into the #3 section - thanks for the idea mj! And I thought it was only going to be about ousting the world leaderships, now I can make it XXX-rated and sign in as "X."

Plan on going to a show anytime soon mj?
