Detroit, Michigan wunderkind Sufjan Stevens makes his first appearance in Vancouver after a long hiatus that has not brought the man to town for nearly five years.

The success of Stevens' last 'official' album, 2005's Illinois, saw a major boom of success for the young musician, who can play over a dozen instruments. Illinois was the second of a proposed "fifty states project" that Sufjan has since turned away from, since releasing a Christmas themed boxed set and a multimedia package, last year's The BQE, which was a soundtrack and short film that Stevens helmed as part of an art installation. With his direction taking various forms, it will be curious to see where his live show will focus. One thing is for sure: last time, the guy showed up in large multicolor bird wings and a full orchestra. File that under: "Do not miss out."
