Radiohead set to debut new songs on short European tour
June 15, 2000
Long Awaited Radiohead Arrives In Southern France
For fans of Oxford England's Radiohead, the long wait
for a taste of new material is almost over. The Southern French town of Arles, known more for its ancient roman ruins and as the town where Van
Gogh went bonkers, will be host to the summer's most
anticipated rock concert.
This will be the first Radiohead performance in nearly two years and they are expected to unveil a slew of
new songs. The band has spent nearly a year
canonizing these new songs in the studio. After
sessions in Paris, Copenhagen and Oxford, the band
announced on April 18th that they were finished
recording their follow up to 1997's "OK Computer". In
a more recent statement the band announced their plans
to limit their next release to around 45 minutes and
save the rest of their new material for still another record, tentatively scheduled for the fall of 2001.
The band claims the new record will be "dark".
Speaking on Dutch radio, bassist Colin Greenwood said
"If you like 'Exit Music', 'Talk Show Host' and
'Airbag', you will like the new album."
How will a band follow up a record that many have
called one of the best rock albums of the 90s (THE
BEST of all time according to a recent Q magazine
poll)? We won't know for sure until the fall, but we will be given a sneak preview and we'll be there to tell you all about it.
