Awesome!
Raising the Fawn - By the Warmth of Your Flame

By Jeff Newman

Release Date: November 4, 2003

Talk about finding your voice! Raising the Fawn's first album Raising the Fawn was a four-track lo-fi entry into the scene that, like a fawn was awkward on its legs but definitely full of potential. By the Warmth of your Flame is confident, mature, and at times, as brilliant as anything currently out there. John Crossingham's song writing ability was already beyond doubt, but the 5 tracks on this EP have him wandering into lusher, more elaborate arrangements that lose none of the demanding passion found in his earlier works. Into Ashes White brings a feeling that will be familiar to fan's of Radiohead's Hail to the Theif while the organ-backed, atonal ecstacy of "Chicago World Expo" will certainly to appeal to fans of Low and American Analoge Set, but the towering, spiraling grandeur of "The Common World" is the EP's highlight.

By the Warmth of Your Flame is now available on Sonic Unyon.
