Rev. Horton Heat Preaches To The Converted At The Commodore

Let the sins begin. The Reverend took to the stage at the Commodore last Friday night like a minister to the pulpit.

An imposing, larger than life, figure in the loaded white suit of a southern baptist. Almost immediately the Reverend dropped his congregation into the pocket (now there's a refreshing change) and let the healing begin.

At 45 with slicked back hair, a purdy white guitar and, as mentioned, the suit to match Jim Heath (The Reverend ) has attained a level of showmanship and stage presence that few - outside perhaps James Brown - can match.

A fascinating enigma on stage - humbled and proud, at peace and in full pout, he's a whirlwind of musicianship and inhibition. With his three piece line up, the MGB's, surrounding him like the choir the man was unstoppable.

Jimbo Wallace on stand up bass and Scott Churilla on drums proved themselves an inspired and passionate rhythm section - bound and tethered only by the Reverend himself.

The Reverend Horton Heat possesses the power... the power to create some of the coolest Swamp and stomp swingin’ blues around.

For those of you that had a chance to catch him this time through, let me hear you. let me hear you say "I'm healed"!
