  Luna - Rendezvous

By Jeff Newman

Release Date: October 26, 2004

Luna's Rendezvous could have been called ''the perfect goodbye kiss." Somehow they managed to trump their masterpiece Penthouse. Luna fans have nothing to fear with this album. The songs are pure Luna and are unmistakably brilliant in composition and execution. New listeners will be treated to a broad cross-section of their songwriting genius. "The owl and the pussycat" and ''Broker Chair" are two low tempo standouts that serve as perfect counterpoints to the up tempo blast of tremolo "Astronaut". "Motel Bambi " and "Buffalo Boots " are classic pieces of Americana that can hold their heads high against anything in Luna's catalogue. Knowing that this is Luna's last album makes the achievement of Rendezvous a bittersweet marvel, but as goodbye lasses go... It' s pretty damn good.
