Al Jourgensen began Ministry in Chicago, Illinois in 1981. The band has been thru countless members, including the late Paul Raven former bassist for Killing Joke. Jourganson was in fine form as he took to the stage last week at The Commodore. I was busy shooting and really didn’t pay attention to the music, only the fence that separated the band from their legions of fans. I thought the fence, a chain link fence was like something you would find around a nuclear power plant or an English school in Quebec during the FLQ conflict. The fence was a little over the top for the sedate hippie Vancouver assembly. Back to the fence. WTF was that about? I’ve seen chicken wire or netting, but an industrial steel chain link. The drunken fans didn’t seem to mind the fence my friend thought it looked kinda cool when the guitarists would rattle the fence between songs.
