This weekend was crazy. I got to take in a whole lotta country and a little rock and roll.
Kicking off the weekend Friday night was Toby Keith ACM Entertainer of the Year Jessie Farrell and Aaron Pritchett,
Saturday night at GM Place I got to see Jim Cuddy and Sheryl Crow.
Jessie Farrell. She is a feisty red head with a great voice, talent and a stellar band. She has a few songs that are breaking records climbing the charts at break neck speeds. Jesse Tucker (guitar) and Jessie Godin (drums) are North Shore boys they used to jam in my basement; seeing the lads up on the big stage was really cool. I remember the very first time I saw Jesse Tucker play was just a skinny kid with a guitar, but boy could he make his guitar sing.
Jesse Godin on drums has a really fresh groove with cool tempos and great chops. He was nominated as Country Music’s drummer of the year 2008.
Toby Keith’s ….Ford Trucks sponsored “The Biggest & Baddest Tour”.
The show opened up with a trailer for Toby’s movie coming out in November. It was a really big plug for Ford Trucks. Toby’s fans didn’t seem to mind. I dare say most of them drive the gas-guzzlers. In spite of, of all the propaganda, Toby puts on a good show. There big screen with the lyrics, so the really drunk people could sing along, a lot of songs about trucks and women and fights, I think? I can’t say that it’s my kinda music, but the legions of fans must see something I don’t. They have bought over 30 million records, so clearly I just don’t get it.
Regardless, It was a night I won’t forget!
