Default's Hard Work Has Paid Off
By Sprout Photo Editor / Staff Writer

The Brickyard showed a softer edge last night with the radio-friendly sounds of Default, ably supported by The Mierkens.
Despite the vocals,The Mierkens, had some pretty cool stuff
going on. The band is a three piece collective out of Alberta ('sort of'
). The tenacious rhythm section cruised through the songs, while the
guitars seemed detached, invoking a narcotic tug of war. The sound worked but the vocals didn't.
Zen opened the show but unfortunately, I missed them.
Default has been getting a lot of attention lately with songs in regular rotation on the major FM stations around town and lots of hype. The band has been working hard, their songs have improved over the last year and their diligence is paying off.
Default has made a name for themselves with their radio-friendly songs that have hook and a little edge. The band has come a long way since their inception. The lads have great dynamics and a solid bottom end.
